Preparation: 20 – 25 minutes


  • 1 kg Green beans edged cut off
  • 1 Diced onion
  • 3 Grated tomatoes
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: serve with yoghurt


  • Add cooked mincemeat to the dish or cooked diced lamb


  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees
  2. Mix the onion, tomato, olive oil, sugar and salt in a bowl. This will be the sauce
  3. In an oven-safe pot, place the green beans in a row then add the sauce, continue layering the beans and the sauce until complete
  4. Place the pot with a lid in the oven until the beans soften. Remove the lid and cook for another 10 mins
  5. Serve hot or cold with yoghurt
