Bamya

Preparation: 20-25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 500 grams Okra edges cut off
  • 3 Peeled and diced tomatoes
  • 1 Diced onion
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 Lemon
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water
  • Sprinkle salt, pepper and paprika

Alternatives

  • You may choose to add pepper paste which will create a different flavour

Method

  1. Place olive oil and the onion in a saucepan with medium heat. Stir until the onion is golden and add the tomatoes and stir for another 1-2 minutes
  2. Add the hot water, okra, salt, pepper and paprika and stir
  3. Close the lid and cook for approximately 20 minutes. Once cooked, add the lemon juice and serve in a bowl
